The former Church Inn has been derelict for over twelve months and has been the target of repeated vandalism. It is currently undergoing refurbishment and planning approval has been granted for a change of use to either flats, a restaurant or a supermarket. The Church Inn or New Inn as some of the older locals refer to it has always been at the heart of the New Bury community. Only time will tell whether the new changes will be successful. On a positive note, at least the building is being preserved and not being demolished like so many others in Farnworth.
